Dr Fakih
Driving on Beach Road in Dubai, the long stretch of tarmac seems to be filled exclusively with various beauty salons, dentists and medical clinics. But there’s one fine establishment that stands out above the rest: Dr Fakih, Gynecologist.
We are wondering if when Mr Fakih (or Mrs Fakih?) grew up did his name sub consciously made him become a gynecologist..? Or, if not, has anybody at least told him that his name is kind of funny, given his trade?
Regardless, seeing funny company names in Dubai is something one gets used to after a while, and stop reflecting much over. But we’d like to list some of our favourites here, as a tribute to the humour that may come from a culturally diverse place, like Dubai.

A certain shop next door to Lulu supermarket called WHEEL 2 WHEEL… which doesn’t sell wheels or tyres of any kind. It’s actually a car wash.

Also almost all dodgy beauty salons/hairdressers in Bur Dubai have words like “Royal”, “Golden”, “Ruby” etc in their company names to at least sound fancy hehe. Or they’re called something with “Modern” and the photos in the window are at least 20 years old hehe.
