The lyrics of ‘Trocitos de Madera’ (Little Pieces of Wood) are sad and lovely, from “a girl who cries her pains / more than anyone / but in the jungle when it comes out / she moves her waist / with a taste of bittersweet pleasure / even though she’s crying out little pieces of wood.” ‘Trocitos de Madera’ is built around a catchy tropical beat – the bite of hiphop with the shuffle of cumbia and subtle darbouka percussion.

A perfect combination of poetry and dancefloor propulsion, Trocitos got the remix treatment from Dutty Artz’ DJ /rupture & Matt Shadetek (who crunked it up with bass-drops and a synth riff), minimal/ electro producer El Remolon, and Buenos Aires IDM godfather Marcelo Fabian.

La Yegros has wowed audiences at Dutty Artz’ New York Tropical parties, and most recently niced up the dance along with Zizek crew at Santos Party House. The original track is produced by King Coya, aka Gaby Kerpel, one of the composers behind theater-performance-spectaculars De La Guarda and Fuerza Bruta.

La Yegros – Trocitos de Madera is the first of a steady stream of digital-only releases from new voices on Dutty Artz. Coming up next: voodoo-punk-mambo, Dominican style, from Rita Indiana y Los Misterios, and African house from the Bay Area’s mighty Chief Boima.

“The original mix is a slow and steamy groover with tucked polyrhythmic hallmarks of the style.
Awesome.” -Boomkat

“The alchemy of the Brooklyn-based Dutty Artz crew is completely mystical and slightly awe-inspiring.”
-Julianne Shepherd,The Fader
